The French circus artist Nicolas Fraiseau and the Croatian film maker Natko Stipanicev worked together from 31 October till 13 November 2022 in Odense (DK).
Natko: “As a filmmaker, I was excited to participate in an art residency in Odense alongside Nicolas, a circus artist. Our residency lasted two weeks and gave us the opportunity to experiment and explore our artistic talents in a new environment. We were both inspired by the natural beauty of the peninsula Stige and experimented with different mediums during our stay.”
“Combining my storytelling skills with the Nicolas unique and daring performances, we experimented with different mediums until we settled on a poetic animated film as most complete product. The residency provided us with a supportive and motivating environment where we could bounce ideas off of each other and receive constructive feedback. Our collaboration allowed us to push ourselves creatively and experiment with new ideas, leading to a interesting film.”
“The process of creating the film was intensive, but the outcome was a testament to the power of collaboration and the benefits of having a space and time dedicated to artistic expression. Our poetic animated film showcases the beauty of Odense and its natural surroundings, and it is a fitting tribute to the surroundings that inspired us.”
